Koneenica Banerjee to be seen as CM of West Bengal in her next film Sukanya

Actress Koneenica Banerjee, who played the lead role in 'Aay Tobe Sohochori', has bagged a film where she will portray the character of politician Mamata Banerjee. The acclaimed actress recently signed up for Ujjwal Mitra's film political drama film Sukanya. Apart from Koneenica Banerjee, the film also stars doctor-politician Santanu Sen and Shreyoshi Ghosh in other pivotal roles.

Biopics on political figures are not new, but this film is not a so-called biopic. The plot of the film is set against the backdrop of the Singur land movement and the state government project 'Kanyashree'. Well, the Kanyashree Prakalpa has been internationally recognized by the United Nations Department of International Development and the UNICEF.

Shreyoshi Ghosh will play the centric character as Durga in this film, who fulfills her dream of becoming an IPS officer with the help of Mamata Banerjee and the scheme of the state government. Koneenica Banerjee will play the role of Maya Chatterjee, CM of West Bengal. Santanu Sen will be seen as DGP of West Bengal

Taking to Instagram, Koneenica Banerjee shared her look for this film where she will be seen as a politician. In the picture, Koneenica is seen in a white saree with green borders and a half-sleeve blouse.

The shooting of the film has already started in a studio in the city. The film is slated to release in April this year.
