Sujan Neel Mukherjee to play Shishir Kumar Bhaduri in a biopic

Actor Sujan Neel Mukherjee, who has been a part of several films and television drama series, will now be seen as Shishir Kumar Bhaduri in a biopic directed by Reshmi Mitra. It's titled Barobabu, where Mukherjee will portray the character of the Indian stage actor and theatre founder, who is commonly referred to as the pioneer of modern Bengali theatre.

In Barobabu, Reshmi Mitra will show Shishir Kumar Bhaduri's life including his relationship with Prabha Devi, and Kankabati, who acted in his group.  Apart from Sujan Neel Mukherjee, the movie will also have Sudipta Chakraborty, Paayel Sarkar, Supratim Roy, Bhaswar Chatterjee, and Biswanath Basu in the key roles. While Sujan Neel will play Shishir Kumar Bhaduri's character, Sudipta Chakraborty play Prabha Devi and Paayel Sarkar will be seen as Kankabati.

Speaking about the film, director Reshmi Mitra told ETimes, ''this film is a biopic but not a complete historical one, It takes the context of the legendary works and life of Shishir Kumar Bhaduri, the towering personality of our Bengal stage. The film mainly focuses on the tussle in his personal life, torn between his relationship with Prabha Devi and Kankabati who acted in the theatre of Shishir Kumar and became an integral part of Sisir Babu’s life.''

Reshmi Mitra has already wrapped up the shooting for 'Borobabu'. Bickram Ghosh has composed the film's music.
