Srijit Mukherjee to direct Mithali Raj's Biopic Sabaash Mithu

Filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee will direct Saabash Mithu - A Biopic of Mithali Raj - Indian women cricketer and Test, ODI Captain of women's national cricket team. Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu will be seen as Mithali Raj in the film. Saabash Mithu was initially directed by Rahul Dholakia. But Now Srijit Mukherjee has taken the responsibility to direct the film.

Rahul Dholakia has stepped out from Sabaash Mithu as his schedule has been disrupted due to epidemics. On Tuesday (22nd June) he has officially announced that he will not direct Sabaash Mithu anymore. Director Rahul Dholakia said in his statement that ' There are some films which you know you have to do, Sabaash Mithu was that film. Unfortunately, I have to end the journey that started in November 2019. But I am and will always be there for them to realize their dream, Covid messed up everyone's schedule, mine was no different.

Srijit Mukherjee said' I was excited about the film since I heard the film is going to be made. I am glad to be a part of this film. As a researcher and being a cricket lover, Mithali Raj's story was always an inspiration to me.

Srijit Mukherjee who mostly known for making Bengali films received National Award for the masterpieces films like Chotushkone, Gumnami, Ek Je Chilo Raja. He is also directing the Netflix series  Forget Me Not and Behrupiya a series of Ray.
