One of the versatile actresses of Tollywood, Paayel Sarkar will be seen in a prominent role in Shishir Kumar Bhaduri's biopic which will be directed by Reshmi Mitra. It is titled Barobabu, the name people of that era used to call Shishir Kumar Bhaduri. This biopic is not a complete historical transcript but takes up the legendary work and life of Bengali theater stalwart Shishir Kumar Bhaduri. Paayel Sarkar will play the role of Kankabati in the film.

Shishir Kumar Bhaduri was an Indian stage actor and theater founder, commonly referred to as the pioneer of modern Bengali theatre, where he was an actor, director, playwright, and set designer well. His wife, Usha, committed suicide and this troubled past always haunted the actor painfully with the shadow of death.

The film mainly deals the tussle of the personal life torn by the relationship between Prabha Devi and Kankabati, who acted in Shishir Kumar's theatre.

Prabha Devi entered the stage at about the age of eight and went on to become one of the leading stage personalities of Bengal. Prabha Devi had no proper education but her acting skills were admired by all.

Kankabati was the first graduate woman to enter the stage of Bengal. As a student Kankabati got an opportunity to visit Rabindra Nath Tagore at his Jorasanko residence and sang Tagore's Ei Lahinu Sanga Taba. As a result, she was fortunate enough to learn music and acting from Tagore. As this attractive woman influenced the actor, his early life was ruined by many subsequent incidents.

If all goes according to plan, Reshmi Mitra will start shooting for the film from October.
