The trailer of Arindam Sil's 'Mayakumari' is out now

The wait is finally over. The official trailer of Arindam Sil's Mayakumari is out now. After much delay, the period drama is all set to hit the cinema halls on 13th January 2023. The film stars Abir Chatterjee, Rajatava Dutta, Indrasish Roy and Arunima Ghosh in key roles. The film also marks Rituparna Sengupta’s first collaboration with Arindam Sil where Sengupta will essay the titular role. Apart from them, the film also features Sauraseni Maitra, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Arna Mukhopadhatay, and Falaque Rashid Roy in pivotal roles.

Speaking about the film, it revolves around Mayakumari (Rituparna) and Kanan Kumar (Abir) who formed a hit pair in 1940’s Bengali cinema. At the peak of her career, Mayakumari took a sabbatical and her fans and followers started speculating about Mayakumari's sudden disappearance. But why did she leave the film Industry? It was known that she left film industry to live her life with her husband Sital Bhattacharya (Rajatava Dutta) away from the world of media and glamour. But did she leave her film career because of her first onscreen kiss and the criticism she received from society? To find these answers, the film's plot shifts to the present where Soumitra Mallick (Indrasish Roy) decides to make a film on Mayakumari and Kanan.
