Actor Indraneil Sengupta, who was expected to play Rangaraj in Subhrajit Mitra's period drama 'Devi Chowdhurani', has been replaced by Arjun Chakrabarty. The makers of the high-budget period drama film have already welcomed Arjun Chakrabarty on board as Rangaraj. And this news has been shared by the director Subhrajit Mitra himself.

Taking to social media, director Subhrajit Mitra shared a picture with Arjun Chakrabarty and captioned ''Welcome on board Arjun Chakrabarty as Rangaraj in Devi Chowdhurani...''. (sic)

When the director was asked about this, he said the decision was taken by the entire team of 'Devi Chowdhurani'. And he believes Arjun can portray the character well.

Subhrajit Mitra's period drama film 'Devi Chowdhurani' has an ensemble cast including Prosenjit Chatterjee and Srabanti Chatterjee. While Srabanti will play the titular role, the versatile actor Prosenjit Chatterjee will be seen as Bhavani Pathak in the historical period drama. Apart from these three stars, the film will also have Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Kinjal Nanda, Bibriti Chatterjee, and Darshana Banik in pivotal roles. The senior actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty will be seen in the role of Haraballav in this film.

Well, this is not the first time Arjun is working under Subhrajit Mitra's direction. Prior to this, Arjun Chakrabarty worked under Subhrajit Mitra's direction in Avijatrik, which won the National Award as ''Best Bengali Film'' at the 68th National Film Awards in Delhi. 

It is also said that Sabyasachi Chakraborty is working on changing his look for the film. He is keeping a beard and mustache for the sake of character.
