It was earlier reported that Sean Banerjee and Trina Saha have teamed up for a thriller series Pilkunj, directed by Riingo Banerjee. These two popular TV stars will be seen together on screen for the first time through this series which will be streaming on a leading OTT platform.

But did you know that Sean Banerjee and Trina Saha's series 'Pilkunj' is inspired by a true incident?

Yes, the web series Pilkunj, starring Trina Saha and Sean Banerjee in lead roles is based on the real incident that happened in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh in 2017. Director Riingo Banerjee, who recently directed 'Varanasi Junction', is coming up with 'Pilkunj' to tell the world about the Pilibhit incident.

What is the Pilibhit incident?

According to the local officials, a 33-year-old mason was killed and dragged away by an adult male tiger to a nearby sugarcane field in his village. The missing man's body was recovered from the cane field on next Monday morning with "60% of his body parts consumed by the tiger". In 2017, as many as 17 people lost their lives in a human-tiger conflict in Pilibhit district. Authorities also suspected that the families in Uttar Pradesh sent the elderly members of their houses into forests as tiger prey to claim compensation worth lakhs from the government. Well, today the makers of Pilkunj web series shared the first official poster on social media. The poster features the lead characters of the series portrayed by Devtanu, Joey Debroy, Shankar Debnath, and Brishti Roy alongside Sean and Trina. While Sean Banerjee will play the male lead, Trina Saha will play the female lead Bidita, a medical practitioner in this series.
