Mimi Chakraborty is likely to replace Subhashree Ganguly in Indraadip Dasgupta's next film 'Megh Peon'

Renowned musician and filmmaker Indraadip Dasgupta who previously directed 'Uttwaron' series for ZEE5, is gearing up for his next titled 'Megh Peon', which will be a tribute to late legendary filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh. This film also marks yet another collaboration between Indraadip Dasgupta and Kaushik Ganguly, after their critically acclaimed ventures 'Kedara,' 'Bismillah,' and 'Uttwaron'.

Initially, the 'Bismillah' director had planned to cast Subhashree Ganguly as the female lead in the movie as he was highly impressed with Ganguly's performance in 'Bismillah'. But now it is known that Mimi Chakraborty will play the role that was supposed to be played by Subhashree Ganguly in Indraadip Dasgupta's film 'Megh Peon'.

If sources are to be believed, Mimi Chakraborty has been approached by Indraadip Dasgupta to play the female lead instead of Subhashree Ganguly in 'Megh Peon'. Well, 'Megh Peon' is not the only one. Prior to this, Subhashree Ganguly had to leave Srijit Mukherji's most anticipated film 'Dawshom Awbotaar, due to her pregnancy. Subhashree is expecting her second child after Yuvaan and has decided to prioritize her family right now.

Well, neither Mimi Chakraborty nor Indraadip Dasgupta has given an official statement on the matter. However, Mimi Chakraborty is currently busy shooting for a web series in which her co-star is none other than Tota Roy Chowdhury, another powerpack performer in the Indian film industry. It is also known that Indraadip Dasgupta will start working on the film in October this year.

Mimi Chakraborty is also busy these days for her upcoming action thriller Raktabeej, co-starring Abir Chatterjee, Victor Banerjee, Anashua Majumdar, and Debasish Mondal. Directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, the film is slated to hit the theaters on October 19 in four languages --- Hindi, Bengali, Odia, and Assamese.
