One of India's highest civilian awards, the Padma Award 2024 has been announced. Awarded by the President of India, the Padma Award is given in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. From Mithun Chakraborty to Usha Uthup, numerous Bengali artists have been honored with the Padma Award along with popular Bangladeshi artist Rezwana Choudhury Bannya whose songs are equally famous in the country. Needless to say, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya won this award for her songs.
Padma Bhushan Award
This time three popular personalities of Bengal have been awarded Padma Bhushan. The first is Mithun Chakraborty, who was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his outstanding contribution to the Indian entertainment industry. Chakraborty holds the record of 19 movie releases as a lead actor in 1989 in the Limca Book of Records and the record still stands in Bollywood.
The second is Usha Uthup who received the Padma Bhushan for entertaining Indians by singing as an Indian pop, film, jazz, and playback singer. On the other hand, Shri Satyabrata Mookherjee (Posthumous) was awarded the Padma Bhushan for public affairs.

And talking about the Padma Shri awards, 8 artists from Bengal have been awarded the Padma Shri along with Bangladeshi singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya for her song which are equally famous in the country. Ratan Kahar also received this award for his contribution to folk music. Popular artist Sanatan Rudra Pal's name is on that list. His handmade idols are world-famous.
Takdira Begum and Geeta Roy Burman were also honored with this special award for their art. Narayan Chakraborty and Eklabya Sharma for their contribution to science and engineering, Shri Dukhu Majhi for social work, and Nepal Chandra Sutradhar, renowned for chho masks, has been honored with this awards posthumously.
On the other hand, artists from the entertainment industry such as Vyjayantimala Bali, Konidela Chiranjeevi, and Padma Subrahmanyam have been awarded the Padma Vibhushan for their contribution to the Indian entertainment industry.
