The makers have officially unveiled the trailer of the upcoming Bengali movie Kaliachak: Chapter 1, starring Rupanjana Mitra and Asim Aktar in lead roles. Directed by Ratool Mukherjee, the action thriller is set to hit the cinema halls on 14th June 2024.
Apart from Rupanjana Mitra and Asim Aktar, the film also stars Partha Sarathi, Deboprasad Haldar, Debapratim Dasgupta, Puja, Principriya, Manish Sharma and Mukul Kumar Jana in pivotal roles.
Speaking about the film, Kaliachak: Chapter 1 is based on true events that took place in Kaliachak, a town in the Kaliachak I CD block in the Malda Sadar subdivision of Malda district in the Indian state of West Bengal. According to the reports, a 19-year-old boy named Mohammad Asif had cold-bloodedly murdered four members of his own family. Later, the police discovered the decomposed bodies of the victims. According to the police, Asif was skilled in hacking. Also, after confessing to killing family members, he showed no remorse. Ratool Mukherjee's film Kaliachak: Chapter 1 is based on that true incident.

When the director was asked why he decided to make a film based on such a true story? He said, "Everywhere in the world there are good and bad people. Kaliachak is one such place. The plot on which the film is based happened in Kaliachak. The film will also make people realize that 'shortcuts' cannot be the ladder to success.'' The director believes that the film will help change people's thoughts about Kaliachak.
