'Padatik' first look; See how Chanchal Chowdhury and Monami Ghosh looks in Mrinal Sen's biopic

It is already known that Chanchal Chowdhury will play the titular role in the biopic of Mrinal Sen which will be directed by Srijit Mukherji. A few days ago, the makers have shared the first official poster for 'Padatik'. The announcement of 'Padatik' has already created a buzz among fans and audiences are also waiting to see how Chanchal Chowdhury will look in the role of Mrinal Sen. 

Another interesting news is that actress Monami Ghosh will be seen opposite Chanchal Chowdhury. While Chowdhury will play the role of Mrinal Sen, Ghosh will be seen as Mrinal Sen's wife Geeta Sen. The film also marks Monami Ghosh's first collaboration with director Srijit Mukherji. 

Today (13th January), the makers revealed the first look of the characters from Padatik. Chanchal Chaudhary looks exactly like Mrinal Sen in the black-and-white picture, wearing the same glasses and smoking a cigarette with the same attitude. On the other side, Monami Ghosh also surprised her fans with her look as Geeta Sen. She looks completely unrecognizable to the fans. It is reported that the makers have chosen Monami Ghosh for the role as she looks quite similar to Geeta Sen.

Korak Samanta will be seen in the role of young Mrinal Sen in this film, while Samrat Chakraborty will play the role of Kunal Sen, the only son of Mrinal Sen and Geeta Sen.

''I will try to portray all four attributes of Mrinal Sen in this film including political ideology, the role of a husband and a father'' said Srijit Mukherji. 

Chanchal Chowdhury is also preparing for the role by reading Mrinal Sen's biography and watching interviews. 

In an interview with a popular news daily, Ghosh said, 'this is my first work with Srijit Da. He called me to his office. I couldn't believe hearing all this. I wanted to dance at that moment. But at the same time, it made me nervous. Srijit Da actually threw a big challenge at me.'

Srijit Mukherji will start shooting for the film from 15th January in Kolkata.
