Actress Payel De has been a part of several television dramas like Prothoma Kadambini, Chuni Panna, Desher Maati, etc. She was last seen playing the role of Maa Bhabatarini in the devotional show Ramprasad, starring Sabyasachi Chowdhury in the lead role. 

After Ramprasad, it was initially speculated that actress Payal De, who played the role of Maa Bhabatarini in Ramprasad, would reprise the role in the newly launched Bhaktir Sagar. But the makers have cast Rayati Bhattacharya to play the character of Maa Bhabatarini in the show Bhaktir Sagar.

However, while a section of viewers accepted this new face as Maa Bhabatarini, a section of netizens expressed their disappointment, demanding actress Payal De as Maa Bhabatarini in the show Bhaktir Sagar. Well, now it is known that it was Payel De herself who decided not to play the role of Maa Bhabatarini on screen anymore.

In a recent interaction with Hindustan Times Bangla, Payal De revealed the truth behind why she is not playing Maa Bhabatarini in the show Bhaktir Sagar. The actress said, ''I had a one-year contract with the channel, which has ended. My face was featured in the promo of "Bhaktir Sagar" due to a technical glitch. Channel authority can explain this better. I didn't want to play this character anymore.''

However, Payal did not forget to congratulate the Bhaktir Sagar team. She said, ''The project is very interesting, Ramakrishna is closely involved with the lives of Bengalis.
